আলেকজান্ডার হচ্ছেন পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসের সবচেয়ে প্রভাবশালী যোদ্ধা। মাত্র ৩২ বছর বয়সে যিনি পৃথিবীর অর্ধেকটাই দখল করে ফেলেছিল। গ্রিস থেকে ভারতের পাঞ্জাব দখলে তিনি একটি যুদ্ধেও হারেনি। ইতিহাসের এই পরাক্রমশালী যোদ্ধার কথা মানুষ দুই হাজার বছর পরও মনে রেখেছে। সবাই তাকে চেনে আলেকজান্ডার, আলেকজান্ডার দ্যা গ্রেট নামে ।
কিন্তু কিভাবে এত অল্প বয়সের একজন তরুণ এত বিশাল সম্রাজ্য জয় করলো ? কত শক্তিশালী ছিল তার সেনাবাহিনী? অথবা ব্যক্তি আলেকজেন্ডার কি উভয়কামি ছিলেন ? কিভাবে মৃত্যু হলো আলেকজান্ডারের বিষে নাকি ম্যালেরিয়ায় ? আলেকজেন্ডার কি সত্যিই মহান যোদ্ধা ছিলেন নাকি ছিলেন একজন দুর্ধর্ষ খুনি?
পুরো ধারাবাহিক জুড়ে আমার এরকম আরো নানা প্রশ্নের উত্তর খুঁজব। নজর দেবো আলেকজান্ডারের জন্ম, মৃত্যু, শিক্ষা, প্রেম এবং যুদ্ধসহ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ঘটনাগুলোর দিকে।

হত্যা : কারা হত্যা করতে চেয়েছিল আলেকজান্ডারকে ?
আলেকজান্ডারকে বিভিন্ন সময় হত্যার চেষ্টা করা হয়। তার কোনটিই সফল হয়নি। তবে এসব হত্যার সকল অভিযোগ যে সত্য ছিল তা নয়। তবে আলেকজান্ডারকে হত্যা চেষ্টার অভিযোগে অনেক কয়েকজনকে মৃত্যুদন্ড দেয়া হয় ।
ছোটবেলার বন্ধু ফিলোটাসের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ ছিল তিনি ষড়যন্ত্র করেছিলেন আলেকজান্ডারকে হত্যার। কেউ কেউ অবশ্য বলে এ অভিযোগ সত্য নয়। মদ্যপ অবস্থায় কোন এক নারীর কাছে বলেছিলেন, তার ও তার বাবার যোগ্যতায় আলেকজ্যান্ডার এত রাজ্য জয় করতে পেরেছে।তারা ছাড়া আলেকজান্ডার এসব অর্জন করতে পারতেন না । এটাকে আলেকজান্ডার রাস্ট্রদ্রোহের মতো অপরাধ মনে করেছেন। তাই অপরাধের শাস্তি হিসেবে ফিলোটাসকে হত্যা করা হয়। বাবা ফারমিয়নকেও হত্যা করা হয় যাতে ছেলে হত্যার প্রতিশোধ নিতে না পারে ।

মেসিডোনিয়ার অভিজাত রাজকীয় এক সদস্যের ছেলে হারমোলেয়াসকে একই অভিযোগে পাথর নিক্ষেপ করে হত্যা করা হয়।
এছাড়া একই অপরাধে আলেকজেন্ডারের অফিসিয়াল ইতিহাসবিদ ক্যালিস ফিনিসকে জেলে পাঠানো হয় । সেখানেই তিনি মারা যান।
