কে এই আলেকজান্ডার ?
আপনাকে যদি জিজ্ঞেস করা হয় পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসের সবচেয়ে প্রভাবশালী যোদ্ধা কে? কে মাত্র ৩২ বছর বয়সে পুরো পৃথিবীর অর্ধেকটাই দখল করে ফেলেছিল? টানা ১০ বছরের যুদ্ধে কে পৃথিবীর ইতিহাসের গতিপথ বদলে দিয়েছিল? গ্রিস থেকে ভারতের পাঞ্জাব দখলে কে একটি যুদ্ধেও হারেনি ? কে এই প্রভাবশালী ব্যক্তি যার কথা মানুষ দুই হাজার বছর পরও মনে রেখেছে ? হ্যাঁ তিনি হচ্ছেন আলেকজান্ডার, আলেকজ্যান্ডার দ্যা গ্রেট !!!
কিন্তু কিভাবে এত অল্প বয়সের একজন তরুণ এত বিশাল সম্রাজ্য জয় করলো ? কত শক্তিশালী ছিল তার সেনাবাহিনী ? কি এমন সম্মোহনি ক্ষমতা ছিল তার, যা গত কয়েশ বছর ধরে চেষ্টা করেও অন্য কেউ করতে পারেনি ? কি এমন শিক্ষা পেয়েছিলেন তিনি জ্ঞানী অ্যারিস্টেটলের কাছ থেকে ?
এত পরাক্রমশালী যোদ্ধা কেন ভারতবর্ষ জয় করতে পারলো না? অথবা ব্যক্তি আলেকজেন্ডার কি উভয়কামি ছিলেন ? কিভাবে মৃত্যু হলো আলেকজন্ডারে বিষে নাকি ম্যালেরিয়ায় ? আলেকজেন্ডার কি সত্যিই মহান যোদ্ধা ছিলেন নাকি ছিলেন একজন দুর্ধর্ষ খুনি? পুরো ধারাবাহিক জুড়ে আমার সেই উত্তর খুঁজব। নজর দেবো আলেকজান্ডারের জন্ম, মৃত্যু, শিক্ষা, প্রেম এবং যুদ্ধসহ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ঘটনাগুলোর দিকে। শুরুটা করা যাক আলেকজান্ডারের জন্ম দিয়ে।

জন্ম : আলেকজান্ডার কি দেবতা জিউসের পুত্র নাকি রাজা ফিলিপের ?
এখনকার ইউরোপের একটি ছোট দেশ মেসিডোনিয়া। এর রাজধানী পেলা এবং রাজা ছিলেন দ্বিতীয় ফিলিপ। রাজা ফিলিপের ছিল ৭ জন স্ত্রী।
সাল ৩৫৬ খ্রি.পূজুলাই মাস। যীশু খ্রিস্টের জন্মেরও সাড়ে তিনশ বছর আগের কথা। রাজার চতুর্থ স্ত্রী অলিম্পিয়াসের গর্ভে জন্ম নেয় ইতিহাসের শ্রেষ্ঠ যোদ্ধা তৃতীয় আলেকজেন্ডার বা মেগাস আলেকজেন্ডার। ২৩৭৫ বছর আগে জন্ম নেয়া এই মহান যোদ্ধাকে সবাই চেনেন ‘আলেকজেন্ডার দ্যা গ্রেট’নামে ।
কিন্তু আলেকজান্ডার কি রাজা ফিলিপের পুত্র ছিলেন? নাকি এই যোদ্ধার জন্ম গ্রহণে দেবতাদেরও কোন হাত ছিল?
মা অলিম্পিয়া বিশ্বাস করতেন, রাজা ফিলিপের ঔরসে নয়, আলেকজান্ডারের জন্ম দেবতা জিউসের ঔরসে। তাই তার মতে আলেকজেন্ডারের পিতা ফিলিপ নয়দেবতা জিউস। ছোটবেলা থেকে তিনি বারবার সে কথাই মনে করিয়ে দিতেন আলেকজেন্ডারকে।
প্রাচীন গ্রিকের জীবনীকার প্লুতার্ক তার লেখায় এইসব অলৌকিক ঘটনার সত্যতা প্রমাণের চেষ্টা করেছেন। তার মতে বিবাহের দিন অলিম্পিয়ার গর্ভে বর্জপাত হয়েছিল এবং ফিলিপ একদিন স্বপ্নে দেখেছেন অলিম্পিয়ার যৌনিদ্বার সিংহের ছাপযুক্ত সিলমোহর দিয়ে বন্ধ ।
এছাড়া আলেকজান্ডারের জন্মের দিন রাজা ফিলিপ দুটি রাজ্য জয়ের সুখবর পেয়েছিলেন এবং তার ঘোড়া অলিম্পিক গেমসে জয় লাভও করেছিল । প্রাচীন বিশ্বের একটি আশ্চর্য স্থাপনা আর্তেমিসের মন্দিরও সেই দিন সেটি পুড়ে গিয়েছিল। প্লুতার্কের মতে এসব ঘটনাই প্রমাণ করে আলেকজান্ডারস্বাভাবিক মানব সন্তান নয়, সে দেবতাদের শক্তি নিয়ে পৃথিবীতে এসেছিল।
তবে এখনকার ইতিহাসবিদরা মনে করেন, এসব অলৌকিক ঘটনা দিয়ে আলেকজেন্ডারকে অতিমানবীয় বানানো চেষ্টা করা হয়েছিল যা একেবারে সত্য নয়। আর এটা বেশি করেছিলেন তার মা অলিম্পিয়াস। উচ্চাকাঙ্খী অলিম্পাস আলেকজেন্ডারের ঐশ্বরিক পিতৃত্বের কাহিনী প্রচলণ করেছিলেন। তিনি মনে করতেন তার ছেলে দেবতাদের শক্তি নিয়ে একদিন গ্রিক সাম্রাজ্য জয়ের সাথে পুরো বিশ্বজয় করবে!! তার জন্মে ঐশ্বরিক কোন ক্ষমতার প্রমাণ না পাওয়া গেলেও পরবর্তীতে আলেকজেন্ডার, বিশ্বজয়ের মধ্যে দিয়ে মায়ের সেই স্বপ্ন কিছুটা পুরণ করেছিল !
