কবিতার এই অসাধারণ লাইনটি লিখেছেন কবি কুসুমকুমারী দাস। জীবনানন্দ দাসের মা। তিনি ছিলেন গৃহিনী। বাবা সত্যানন্দ দাস ছিলেন বরিশালের ব্রাহ্মসমাজের বেশ গণ্যমান্যব্যক্তি। একসময় ব্রাহ্মবাদি পত্রিকা সম্পাদনা করতেন। প্রথমে হিন্দু ধর্মের থাকলেও পরে ব্রাহ্ম ধর্মে দীক্ষিত হন তিনি।
ছোট বেলায় থেকেই কবিতা লেখার প্রতি জোর দিতেন মা কুসম কুমারী দাশ। বুঝতেন ছেলের প্রতিভা আছে সে লিখলে ভালো করবে। তিনি অবশ্য চাইতেন ছেলে ব্রাহ্মধর্মের পুরোধা ব্যক্তিদের নিয়ে লেখুক। অনেক বলার পরও ছোট জীবনানন্দ লিখতে চাইতেন না।
প্রথম কবিতা প্রকাশ পায় ‘বর্ষা আহবান,। প্রকৃতি নিয়ে। এরপর লেখেন দেশবন্ধু চিত্তরঞ্জন দাসকে নিয়ে। যেদিন তিনি মারা যান তার কবিতা প্রকাশ পেলে সেটা মাকে পাঠান। মা খুশি হয়েছিল ছেলে কবিতা লিখছে দেখে তবে আবসোস করে বলেছিলেন রামমোহন রায় কিংবা ব্রাহ্মধর্মের মহাণ ব্যক্তিদের নিয়েও যদি ছেলে কবিতা লিখতেন তাহলে আরো ভালো লাগতো।
একসময় যিনি কথায় বড় না হয়ে কাজে বড় হতে বলেছিলেন সেই তিনি অবশ্য দেশের শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে হতাশ হয়ে পড়েছিলেন।
কুসুমকুমারী দাস জন্মেছিলেন বরিশালের গৈলা গ্রামে। তার বাবা ব্রাহ্মধর্ম গ্রহণ করায় গ্রামবাসিদের বিরোধিতার কারণে তারা চলে আসেন বরিশাল শহরে ।
সত্যানন্দ দাসের সাথে তার বিয়ে হয় প্রবেশিকা পরীক্ষার আগে। ১৮৯৪ সালে। স্বামীর উৎসাহে তার কাব্য চর্চা বাড়তে থাকে ।
তার কাব্যগ্রন্থ ‘কবিতা মুকুল’ প্রকাশ পায় জীবনানন্দ জন্মের তিন বছর আগে ১৮৯৬ সালে। তিনি ব্রাহ্মবাদী পত্রিকায় লিখতেন। এছাড়া প্রবাসী ও মুকুল পত্রিকায়ও তার কিছু কবিতা প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।
‘পৌরানিক আখ্যায়িকা’ নামের একটি গল্পের বইও প্রকাশ পায়। ব্রাহ্মধর্মের বরিশাল মহিলা সভার সভাপতি ছিলেন কুসুমকুমারি দাশ।
মা কুসুমকুমারি ছিলেন জীবনান্দের প্রথম অনুপ্রেরণা আর প্রথম শিক্ষক। মায়ের হাতেই শিখেছেন কিভাবে কবিতা লিখতে হয়। কিন্তু পরে ধর্মীয় দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি থেকে বের হয়ে নিজের এক মায়ার জগত তৈরি করেন। হয়ে ওঠেন বাংলার এক অবিসংবাদিত শুদ্ধ কবি।
