জীবনানন্দ দাস বাংলার একজন শ্রেষ্ঠ কবি। আমরা বের হয়েছিলাম বিখ্যাত এই কবির জন্মস্থানের খোঁজে। বামনকাঠি গ্রামে গিয়ে আমার এমন একজনকে খুঁজে পেয়েছিলাম যিনি আমাদের নিয়ে গেছেন জীবনানন্দ দাসের বিলীন হওয়া পৈতৃকভিটার কোনায় কোনায়।
১. পৈত্রিক ভিটা বিলীন
জীবনান্দ দাসের জন্ম ঝালকাঠি বামনকাঠি গ্রামে। ডিসেম্বরের এক সকালে সড়ক পথে বের হলাম কবির জন্মভিটার খোঁজে। এখনও চলছে পদ্মা ব্রীজের কাজ। সড়ক নদী শেষে আবারও সড়ক পথে প্রথম পৌঁছালাম বরিশাল।
ঝালকাঠির রাজাপুর উপজেলায় বামনকাঠি গ্রাম। বরিশালের রুপাতলি বাস স্ট্যান্ট থেকে আমরা একটি বাসে উঠে পড়ি। দুজনের ভাড়া ১৭০ টাকা।
শীতের সকালে বাসে যেতে যেতে ভাবি কবি এই পথেই একদিন হয়ত হেঁটে বেড়িয়েছেন । কেউ তাকে বলে রুপসী বাংলার কবি, কেউ বলেন নির্জনতম কবি আবার কেউ বলেন তিনি শুদ্ধতম কবি। বাংলা সাহিত্যের এমন এক প্রতিভাধর কবির জন্ম বাংলাদেশের বরিশালের ঝালকাঠি জেলার রাজাপুরের বামনকাঠি গ্রামে ১৮৯৯ সালে।
আমরা রাজাপুর উপজেলা যাবার আগেই পেংড়ি নামক একটি স্থানে নেমে পড়লাম।
বামনকাঠি গ্রামে কেটেছে কবির শিশুকাল। বয়স যখন আট তখন তাকে ভর্তি করানো হয় বরিশালের এক স্কুলে। বরিশালের পড়ালেখা শেষে তিনি কলকাতায় চলে যান। কিছুদিনের দেশে ফিরে আসলেও পরে কলকাতাতেই স্থায়ী হন এবং সেখানেই মারা যান।

২. মামার বাড়ি ভাটারাকান্দা ।
জীবনানন্দের খোঁজে আমার এসেছিলাম তার জন্মভিটা বামনকাঠি গ্রামে। ধারনা করা হয় এখানে নয় কবির ছোটবেলার বেশিরভাগ সময় কেটেছে তার মামার বাড়ী ভাটারাকান্দায়।
ঝালকাঠি জেলার ভাটারকান্দা গ্রামে মামার বাড়ি ছিল বলে জানা যায়। সদর উপজেলার ছত্রকান্দা বাজারের মোড় থেকে কিছুদুর ভিতরে সেই গ্রাম। ‘আমাদের দেশে সেই ছেলে হবে কবে কথায় না বড় হয়ে কাজে বড় হবে’ লিখেছিলেন কবির মা কুসুমকুমারি দাস। তার জন্ম এই ভাটারা কান্দা গ্রামে। এই গ্রামের পাশেই ছিল বিখ্যাত ‘ধাঁনসিড়ি নদী’। ছোট বেলার গ্রামের স্মৃতিই ছিল তার কবিতা সবচেয়ে বড় শক্তি।
রাস্তার পাশেই কিছু পুরাতন স্থাপনা দেখতে পেলাম আমরা।
অনেক খোঁজাখুজির পর পাওয়া গেল কবির বাড়ির কিছু চিহ্ন। কিছুদিন আগে জেলা প্রশাসন থেকে এখানে কবির সংগ্রহশালা নির্মানের উদ্দোগ নেয়া হয়। জংগল পরিস্কার করে একটি ভিত্তপ্রস্তর স্থাপন করা হয়। এই জমির বর্তমান যিনি মালিক আমার তার সাথে কথা বলতে চাই ।
জমির মুল্য পরিশোধ সহ মালিকের আছে নানা অভিযোগ ।
এলাকায় ঘুরে বোঝা গেল জমি হারানোর ভয়ে অনেকেই স্বীকারই করতে চায় না কবির জন্মভিটা আর শৈশবের স্মৃতির সঠিক স্থানগুলোর।
তবে জেলা প্রশাসকের পক্ষ থেকে এই জায়গাটি কবির মামার বাড়ি বলে নিশ্চিত করে । জমির বর্তমান মালিকদের কাছ থেকে ১৭ শতক জমি ৩ লক্ষ টাকায় কিনে নেবার কথা সরকারের। আর তাতের গড়ে তুলবে কবির ম্মৃতি সংগ্রহশালা। কিন্তু জমির সেই মুল্য না পাওয়ায় মালিকদের রয়েছে ক্ষোভ।
স্থানীয়দের সাথেও আমরা কথা বলি কবির মামার বাড়ির সঠিক স্থান নিয়ে।
তবে এক বৃদ্ধ আমাদের নিশ্চিত করলেন যে এটা কবির স্মৃতি বিজড়িত জায়গা।
জমির মালিকদের কিছুটা অনিহা থাকলও স্থানীয়রা চান এখানে কবির স্মৃতি ধরে রাখার উদ্দোগ প্রশংসনিও।
পুরোএলাকা ঘুরে শুধু এই জায়গাতেই কবি জীবনানন্দের স্মৃতি ধরে রাখার সরকারী উদ্দোগ চোখে পড়েছে । কিন্তু সেই উদ্দোগ কতটা পরিপুর্ন করা সম্ভব সেটা নিয়ে রয়েছে সংশয়। সরকারের উচিত খুব দ্রত এর বিষয়ে ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করা।

৩. প্রিয় ধাঁনসিড়ি নদী
জীবনানন্দের খোঁজে আমার এসেছিলাম তার শৈশবরে গ্রাম গুলোতে । প্রথমে বামনকাঠি তারপর মামার বাড়ি ভাটারা কান্দা গ্রামে। কবির স্মৃতিতে সবচেয়ে উজ্জ্বল হয়ে আছে “ ধানসিড়ি নদী’। মামার বাড়ির পাশে সেই বিখ্যাত নদী।
কবি তার এই প্রিয় নদীর নাম অমর করে রেখেছেন তার কবিতায় । জীবানানন্দ আর ধানসিড়ি নদী যেন সামার্থক হয়ে আছে।
এই নদী একসময় প্রমত্তা ছিল। একসময় ইস্টিমার চলতো নদী দিয়ে । কিন্তু আজ এর কি হাল হয়েছে। অবহেলা আর অযন্তে নদী ভরাট হতে হতে নদীর চিহ্ন নাই। যেকারো পক্ষে বিশ্বাস করা কঠিন এটাই কবি জীবনানন্দের প্রিয় সেই ধানসিড়ি নদী। যার রুপ রস আর গন্ধে বাঙ্গালীরা বুদ হয়ে আছেন গত ৭০ বছর ধরে।
কবির ছোটবেলায় এই নদী দিয়ে তার খুলনায় যেতে সেখান থেকে ট্রেনে কলকাতা। সেই সময় নদীর দুইধারের অপরুপ সৌন্দয্য কবিকে মুগ্ধ করেছিল। বাংলা সাহিত্যের যে কয়েকটি নদী্ মানুষের মনে চরম দাগ কেটে আছে তাদের মধ্যে ধাসসিঁড়ি অন্যতম। কবির হাতে ধানসিড়ি অমর হয়ে রইল।
তবে কারো কারো মতে এই নদীর আসল নাম ধানসিঁড়ি নয় এর নাম ছিল ‘ধানসিদ্ধ’। পুরাতন জমির দলিল দস্তাবেজে এই নদীর নাম ধানসিদ্ধ উল্লেখ করা আছে। কবির যাদুকরি হাতে ধানসিদ্ধ হয়ে যায় ‘ধানসিড়ি’।
একটি ভাঙ্গা ব্রিজ এখনো কালের সাক্ষী হিসেবে টিকে আছে। বিপদজনক ভাবে মানুষ পারাপার হয় এই নদীর উপর ।
কবি জীবনানন্দ দাসের মত একজন মানুষকে নিয়ে স্থানীয়দের মধ্যে খুব একটা আগ্রহ দেখা যায় না।
ধানসিড়ি ছিল কবি সবচেয়ে বড় প্রেরণার নাম। ‘রপসী বাংলা’ কাব্যগ্রন্থ প্রথম পাঠকদের পরিচিত হন এই নদীর সাথে । কাব্যগ্রন্থটি প্রকাশ পায় কবির মৃত্যু দুইবছর পর ১৯৫৭ সালে ।
বাংলা সাহিত্যে প্রেমের একঅপরুপ নাম হয়ে উঠেছে এই ধানসিঁড়িনদী। কবি বার বার এই নদীর তীরে ফিরে আসতে চেয়েছেন। যদি সরকার উদ্দোগী হয়ে যদি নদীটি সংস্কার করে তাহলে পর্যটন কেন্দ্র হিসেবেও এটি জনপ্রিয় হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
আজ এ পর্যন্তই সবাই ভালো থাকবেন । জীবনানন্দকে নিয়ে আবার অন্যকোন পর্বে হাজির হব সে পর্যন্ত আমাদের সাথেই থাকবেন ।
