পারভেজ সেলিম ।।

করোনা কি জীবানু অস্ত্র ! নাকি এটি একি প্রাকৃতিক ভাইরাস ! এ নিয়ে বির্তকের শেষ নেই। চীন এই বিতর্ককে পুরোপুরি উড়িয়ে দিয়েছে। তবে আমেরিকানরা মনে করছে উহানের গবেষণাগার থেকেই ছড়িয়েছে এই করোনা । যদিও তাদের হাতে সঠিক কোন প্রমাণ নাই। তবে জীবানু অস্ত্র  নিয়ে এমন আলোচনা এটাই প্রথম নয়। এর আগেও অনেকবার শোনা গেছে জীবানু অস্ত্রের ব্যবহারের কথা।

প্রাচীনকাল :

প্রায় সাড়ে তিন হাজার বছর আগে ( ১২০০-১৫০০ খ্রী পূ.) মধ্য প্রাচ্যের একদল যোদ্ধার হাতেই প্রথম পরিচিতি পায় ‘জীবাণু অস্ত্র’। তারা হলেন ‘হিত্তিত জাতির যোদ্ধা’। এই জাতিরা তাদের শত্রুদের শহরের কাছে ছয়টি ভেড়া ছেড়ে দিয়ে আসতো। সেই ভেড়াগুলির শরীরে থাকতো র‍্যাবিট রোগের জীবানু । শত্রুপক্ষ এই ভেড়াগুলোকে পেয়ে অন্য গবাদিপুশুর মতো লালন পালন করতো এবং র‍্যাবিট জ্বরে সংক্রমিত হয়ে মারা যেত শহরের প্রায় অর্ধেক মানুষ । তখন হিত্তিতদের সেই শহর দখল করতে কোন বেগ পেতে হতো না। হিত্তিতদের পর বহু শতাব্দী জীবাণু অস্ত্র ব্যবহারের সরাসরি কোনো প্রমাণ না পাওয়া যায়নি ।

এরপর  ১৩৪৬ সালে মঙ্গোলরা জীবানু অস্ত্র ব্যবহার শুরু করে ।সেসময় প্লেগে আক্রান্ত মৃতদেহকে তারা নিক্ষেপ করতো শত্রুদের শহরের দেয়ালের ওপারে। যাতে শক্র সৈন্যদের মাঝে প্লেগের মহামারি ছড়িয়ে পড়ে ।

আধুনিক কাল:

স্ক্যান্ডিনেভিয়ার “মুক্তিযোদ্ধা”রা ফিনল্যান্ডে রাশিয়ান আর্মির বিরুদ্ধে এন্থ্রাক্সের জীবাণু ব্যবহার করেছিল সেটি ১৯১৬ সালের দিকে।  জার্মান জেনারেল স্টাফরা এই এন্থ্রাক্সের জীবাণু তাদেরকে সরবরাহ করেছিলো

এরপর ১৯২৫ সালে আর্ন্তজাতিক জেনেভা চুক্তিতে নিষিদ্ধ করা হয়  জীবানু অস্ত্রের ব্যবহার ।

১৯৩৭ সালের দ্বিতীয় চীন-জাপান যুদ্ধেও যুদ্ধাস্ত্র হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে প্লেগের ব্যাকটেরিয়াকে । তারপর দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধের সময় বিষয়টি  আরো বেশি করে আলোচনায় আসে। ১৯৪০ সালে  চীনের নিংবো শহরে প্লেগের জীবানু বহনকারি মক্ষিকা বোমা ছুঁড়েছিল জাপান। পরে সেই এলাকায় প্লেগ ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল  এবং চার লাখ মানুষ মারা গিয়েছিল।

সেসময় ব্রিটিশ সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে ভয়ংকর অ্যানথ্রাক্স জীবাণুকে অস্ত্র হিসেবে ব্যবহারের পরীক্ষা চালানো হয়  স্কটল্যান্ডের গ্রুইনার্ড  দ্বীপে। এই পরীক্ষাটি এতোটাই ভয়াবহ ছিল যে পরবর্তী ৪৮ বছর ধরে দ্বীপটিকে কোয়ারেন্টাইন করে রাখতে হয়েছিল।

রাশিয়ার বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ :

তবে শুধু বিট্রিশ নয় এমন অভিযোগ আছে সোভিয়েত ইউনিয়নের বিরুদ্ধেও। ১৯৩০ সালে দেশটির এমন একটি পরীক্ষার কারণে এরাল সাগরের একটি দ্বীপ চিরতরে মানুষ বসবাসের অনুপযোগী হয়ে পড়ে । যেখানে র‍্যাবিট ফিভার, প্লেগ এর মতো একাধিক রোগের জীবাণু ছড়িয়ে পড়েছিল ।

এ ছাড়া ১৯৭১ সালে রাশিয়ার পরীক্ষাগার থেকে দূর্ঘটনাক্রমে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে গুটিবসন্তের জীবাণু । এটিকে তারা অস্ত্র হিসেবে ব্যবহারের জন্য তৈরি করছিল । এরপর শক্তিধর দেশগুলো পরীক্ষাগারে এ ধরনের জীবাণু মজুদ থাকার বিষয়টি নিয়ে শংকা বাড়তে থাকে । ১৯৮০ সালে পৃথিবী থেকে গুটিবস্তকে নির্মুল হয়েছে বলে ঘোষনা দিয়েছে  বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা। অথচ রাশিয়া ও আমেরিকায় এখন গুটিবসন্তের ভাইরাস হিমায়ত করে রাখা আছে। যা পৃথিবীর মানুষের জন্য  বড় সমস্যার কারন হতে পারে ভবিষ্যতে ।

১৯৭৮ থেকে ১৯৮১ সাল পর্যন্ত কিউবাতে ডেঙ্গু জ্বরে কয়েক লাখ মানুষ মারা গিয়েছিল। কেউ কেউ মনে করেন এর সংখ্যা ছিল পাঁচ লাখ। ওই সময় কিউবার নেতা ফিদেল কাস্ত্রো অভিযোগ করেছিলেন, ডেঙ্গুর প্রাদুর্ভাব ঘটেছিল যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের জীবাণু অস্ত্রের আক্রমণে। এই অভিযোগ অবশ্য অপ্রমানিত থেকে গেছে ।

তবে ১৯৮১ সালে প্রকাশিত মার্কিন সামরিক বাহিনীর এক প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়, পোকামাকড়ের মাধ্যমে জীবাণু অস্ত্র ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ছিল। ওই প্রতিবেদনে বলা হয়েছে, এ আ্যালগিপ্টি মশার মাধ্যমে আফ্রিকায় ইয়েলো ফিভার ছড়ানো হয়।

 এরপর আমেরিকা নিজেই জীবানু অস্ত্রের হামলার শিকার হয় ২০০১ সালে । তাদের দেশের কয়েকজন অনুজীব বিজ্ঞানী চিঠির মাধ্যমে পাউডার করে এনথ্যাক্স ভাইরাস ছড়িয়ে দিয়েছিল। ৫ জন মারা গিয়েছিল । আক্রান্ত হয়েছিল ১৭ জন।

করোনা কি জীবানু অস্ত্র ?

এরপর করোনা সারা বিশ্বে ছড়িয়ে পড়ার পর আবারো শোরগোল পড়ে গেল জীবানু অস্ত্র নিয়ে । অনেকেই মনে করছেন ভাইরাসটি ছড়িয়েছে চীনের উহান প্রদেশের গবেষণাগার থেকে। সেই গবেষণাগারের পরিচালক অবশ্য অস্বীকার করে বলেছেন, ‘চীন কেন পৃথিবীর কোন মানুষের পক্ষে করোনার মত ভাইরাস আবিস্কার করা সম্ভব নয়। মানুষ এত জ্ঞান অর্জন করেনি এখনো’। তবু চীনের কথার উপর অনেকেই বিশ্বাস রাখতে পারছেনা। আবার  সঠিক প্রমানও কারো হাতে নাই। তাই চলছে বিশ্বাস অবিশ্বাসের বিতর্ক। তবে এ বির্তকও শেষ হবে একদিন। জানা যাবে করোনা ‘প্রাকৃতিক ভাইরাস’ নাকি মানুষের বানানো ‘জীবানু অস্ত্র’। সেইদিন পর্যন্ত নিরাপদে থাকাই শ্রেয়।
