পারভেজ সেলিম ।।
সাতচল্লিশের দেশ ভাগ আজীবনের এক বেদনার জন্ম দিয়েছে বাঙ্গালীর মনে। বাংলা ভাগের এই ট্রাজিডি নিয়ে আমাদের সাহিত্যে খুব বড় কোন কাজ যেমন হয়নি তেমনি শিল্পের অন্য শাখাতেও এই ঘটনা খুব উজ্জল নয়। বিশেষ করে বাংলা সিনেমার দিকে তাকালে এর দৈন্যতা আরো বেশি চোখে পড়ে।
সাল ১৯৪৭ মানব ইতিহাসের যে বিশেষ ঘটনা। ছোট একটি রাজনৈতিক সিদ্ধান্ত যে হাজার হাজার মানুষকে এক চরম অনিশ্চয়তা মধ্যে ফেলেছিল তা সিনেমায় বিশাল এক বিষয়বস্তু হয়ে উঠতে পারতো। হতে পারতো মানব ইতিহাসের এক বিশাল বিপর্যয়ের গল্পের নানামুখি প্রদর্শণের চেষ্ঠা । যেমনটা আমরা এখন দেখতে পাই দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধ নিয়ে কত বিচিত্র এবং জীবনমুখী দারুণ সব সিনেমা নির্মিত হচ্ছে প্রতিনিয়ত । তবু দেশভাগ নিয়ে বাংলা সিনেমায় যতটুকু কাজ হয়েছে সেটাও হয়ত কম নয় ।
সাতচল্লিশ নিয়ে সবার প্রথম যে সিনেমাটি মানুষের নজর কাড়ে সেটি হলো নিমাই ঘোষের ‘ছিন্নমূল’(১৯৫১)। পিতৃপুরুষের ভিটেমাটি ছেড়ে চিরদিনের মতো নিরাশ্রয় হয়ে বাস্তুহারার দল কীভাবে কলকাতার স্টেশনে মানবেতর জীবন কাটাচ্ছে, খিদের তাড়নায় রাস্তায় রাস্তায় ঘুরছে সেই মানব বেদনার জীবন্ত দলিল হল ‘ছিন্নমূল’। দেশভাগের মাত্র চার বছরের মধ্যে নির্মিত হয় এই সিনেমা। নিমাই ঘোষ খুব সাহসের সাথে এমন সময় এই সিনেমা বানিয়েছেন, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সীমান্ত জুড়ে উদ্বাস্তুদের ঢল তখনও থামেনি ।
এরপর সলিল সেনের ‘নতুন ইহুদি’(১৯৫৩) এবং শান্তিপ্রিয় চট্টোপাধ্যায়ের ‘রিফিউজি’(১৯৫৪) এই বিষয়ে ব্যতিক্রমী চেষ্টা।
দেশভাগ নিয়ে সবচেয়ে বেদনাকাতর ছিলেন ঋত্বিক কুমার ঘটক। তিনিই প্রথম সিনেমায় এই দেশভাগের দু:খ, বেদনা আর হতাশাকে শিল্পসম্মতভাবে তুলে ধরলেন । ১৯৬০ থেকে ১৯৬২ এই তিন বছরে তিনি পরপর তিনটি সিনেমা বানালেন । তিনটিরই মুল সুর এই দেশভাগ। ঋত্বিক কুমারের দেশভাগ ট্রিলজিই এই বিষয়ে সিনেমার সবচেয়ে প্রশংসিত কাজ । মেঘে ঢাকা তারা ( ১৯৬০) কোমল গান্ধার (১৯৬১) এবং সুবর্ণরেখা (১৯৬২) এই তিন সিনেমাই বাংলা সিনেমার এক উজ্জল দৃষ্টান্ত ।
ঋত্বিক ঘটকের পরে বেশ কিছু সিনেমা তৈরি হয়েছে দেশভাগকে নিয়ে। ‘বিপাশা’,‘আলো আমার আলো’ ইত্যাদি ছবিতে হালকাভাবে দেশভাগ প্রসঙ্গ এলেও শিল্পের বিচারে তা খুব এগুতে পারেনি বরং রাজেন তরফদারের ‘পালঙ্ক’সিনেমায় দেশভাগ চমৎকারভাবে ধরা দিয়েছে।
এতো গেল কলকাতার সিনেমার কথা। বাংলাদেশের সিনেমায় বলতে গেলে তেমন কোন কাজই হয়নি এই বিষয় নিয়ে। একমাত্র তানভীর মোকাম্মেল “চিত্রা নদীর পারে’ (১৯৯৯) ব্যতিক্রম।এখনও বাংলাদেশে নির্মিত দেশভাগ নিয়ে শিল্পমান সম্পন্ন এই সিনেমাটি একমাত্র উজ্জল হয়ে আছে । বাংলাদেশের এক হিন্দু পরিবার সেসময় কেন এবং কিভাবে দেশত্যাগে বাধ্য হলো তার নিপুণ এক চিত্রায়ণ করেছে তানভীর মোকাম্মেল।
আর সম্প্রতি আকরাম খান ‘খাঁচা’ (২০১৭) নামের একটি সিনেমা বানিয়েছেন যা এই তালিকায় নতুন উল্লেখযোগ্য সংযোজন। এছাড়া বাংলাদেশে চলচ্চিত্রকারদের এই বিষয়ে খুব একটা আগ্রহ দেখা যায় না।
শেখ নিয়ামত আলি ও মহিউদ্দীন শাকেরের ‘সূর্য দীঘল বাড়ি’ ছিল ’৪৭-এর প্রেক্ষাপটে সাধারণ গ্রাম্য হতদরিদ্র মুসলমান সমাজের অবস্থান। দেশভাগের ফলে সেসময় পুর্ববঙ্গের যে সংকট তা সুন্দর করে ফুটিয়ে তোলা সম্ভব হয়েছেসিনেমাটিতে।
তানভীর মোকাম্মেলই বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র পরিচালক যিনি দেশভাগ নিয় একাধিক কাজ করেছেন।‘চিত্রা নদীর পাড়ে’ ছাড়াও তিনি ‘সীমান্তরেখা’নামে এক বিশাল প্রামাণ্যচিত্র বানিয়েছেন। দেশে বিদেশে বেশ সমাদৃত হয়েছে প্রামান্যচিত্রটি ।
এছাড়া তারেক মাসুদ ‘কাগজের ফুল’ নামে একটি সিনেমার কাজ শুরু করেছিলেন যার বিষয় ছিল এই দেশভাগ। নিশ্চয়ই ‘মাটির ময়না’র মত আরেকটি অসামাণ্য সিনেমা আমার পেতাম দেশভাগ নিয়ে । যদি তাকে এভাবে সড়ক দূর্ঘটনায় জীবন দিতে না হতো। এ আমাদের জন্য বিশাল এক অপুরুনীয় ক্ষতি হয়েছে ।
বর্তমান সময়ে কলকাতার সিনেমা পাড়ায় সাতচল্লিশ ও এর প্রভাব নিয়ে আরো বেশ কিছু সুনির্মিত সিনেমা হয়েছে। গৌতম ঘোষের ‘শঙ্খচিল’, বাপ্পাদিত্য বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ‘কাঁটাতার’, বুদ্ধদেব দাশগুপ্তের ‘তাহাদের কথা’, সৃজিত মুখোপাধ্যায়ের ‘রাজকাহিনি’কিংবা কৌশিক গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়ের ‘বিসর্জন’ও ‘বিজয়া’। দেশভাগকে দারুণ করে বর্তমান প্রজন্মের মাঝে তুলে ধরতে পেরেছেন এই্ পরিচালকেরা । বিশেষ করে সৃজিতের ‘রাজকাহিনী’ অসাধারণ এক গল্পকে এমন ভাবে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে বিষয় এবং নির্মাণে বাংলা সিনেমার এক মাইলফলক হয়ে থাকবে অনেকদিন । কৌশিকের ‘বিসর্জন’অন্যন্য এক উচ্চতায় নিয়ে গেছে বাংলা সিনেমাকে । সম্প্রতি লীনা গঙ্গোপাধ্যায়ের ‘মাটি’ ছবিটি নতুন করে দর্শককে আকর্ষণ করছে।
এদেশের সাধারন মানুষের আক্ষেপ যেমন দেশে কোন বাল্মিকী জন্মাইনি তাই একাত্তর নিয়ে রচিত হয়নি কোন মহাকাব্য তেমনি এখনও অপেক্ষা হয়ত একদিন জন্মিবে কোন ব্যাসদেব যার হাতে সৃষ্টি হবে সাতচল্লিশ নিয়ে মহাভারতের মতো এক মহাকাব্য। নতুন কোন সিনেমার রাজপুত্র এসে হয়ত বানিয়ে ফেলবে সাতচল্লিশ নিয়ে এই অসামান্য মানব দলিল। অপেক্ষা সেই দিনের ।
