পারভেজ সেলিম ।
যে সিনেমা দেখলে আমার সিনেমা বানানো স্বপ্ন মাথা চাড়া দিয়ে ওঠে তাকেই আমি ‘ভালো সিনেমা’ বলি। আর যে সিনেমা দেখে আমি কিছুক্ষন ‘থ’ হয় বসে থাকি, নানান কথা ভাবি, দীর্ঘশ্বাস ফেলি, বাহিরে তাকিয়ে দেখলে সব কেমন যেন আলাদা হয়ে গেছে মনে হয়, নিজেকে একটু আলাদা রকম লাগে, সেই সিনেমাকে বলি ‘মহৎ সিনেমা’।
অবশ্য যে সিনেমাকে সবাই খুব ভালো বলে তা দেখতে আমার একধরনের ভয় কাজ করে। দেখতে গিয়ে ওটার মহত্বটা ধরতে না পারার একটা শংকা কাজ করে। জনশ্রুত খুব ভালো সিনেমাগুলো দেখতে তাই একটু নিজের মত করে সময় নেই আমি। হাতে পেলেই দেখতে বসে যাই না। সৌন্দর্য্য উপভোগেরও একটা আয়োজন থাকা উচিৎ, সময় থাকা উচিত এই ভেবে ।

এই করতে করতে আমার ফেদরিকো ফেল্লিনী’র 8 1/2 (১৯৬৩),আলফ্রেড হিচককের ‘সাইকো (১৯৬০) ও দ্যা বার্ডস (১৯৬৩), ইঙ্গমার বার্গম্যানের ‘দ্যা সেভেন্থ সীল’ (১৯৫৭) সহ অনেক স্বীকৃত মাস্টারপিস এখনও দেখা হয়ে ওঠেনি।
এছাড়া ফ্রান্সেস ফোর্ড কপোলা ও মার্লোন ব্রান্ডোর ‘গডফাদার’ (১৯৭২),আকিরা কুরোশাওয়া’র ‘সেভেন সামুরাই (১৯৫৪)’ও রান (১৯৮৫), স্টেনলী কুবরিক’র ‘২০০১ আ স্পেস ওডেসি’(১৯৬৮) এবং অরসন ওয়েলসে’র ‘সিটিজেন ক্যান’(১৯৪২) দেখতে বসে মনে হয়েছে আমি মনে হয় ঠিক সময়ে দেখছি না সিনেমাটি। তাই বাদ দিয়েছি। না দেখার তালিকাটা আরো লম্বা করা যেতে পারে।

তবে সবগুলোই যে প্রস্তুত নই বা ইচ্ছে হচ্ছে না বলে দেখিনি তা নয়, যখন দেখবো বলে মন চেয়েছে ঠিক তখনই হাতের কাছে সিনেমার ভালো প্রিন্ট পাইনি বলেও অনেকগুলো দেখা হয়নি। আবার যখন পেয়েছি তখন মনে হয়েছে ঠিক সিনেমার রসটুকু মনে হয় সঠিক নিতে পারছিনা তাই দেখা পিছিয়ে দিয়েছি ।
যে সিনেমা দেখেছি :
এ রকমভাবে ‘বাইসাইকেল থীবস’ নামের একটি সিনেমা বয়ে নিয়ে বেড়িয়েছি ১২ বছর। প্রথমদিকে শুরু করার পর কোন এক অজানা কারণে মনে হয়েছে এই সিনেমা এখন নয়। যেমন কোন কিছু বোঝার আগে সত্যজিতের ‘পথের পাঁচালী (১৯৫৫) দেখে ভালো করিনি।
প্রথম দেখায় ‘পথের পাঁচালী’ আমার ভালো লাগেনি। জোর করে দেখানো হয়েছিল বলে আসল স্বাদ পেতে সময় লেগেছিল আমার। তখনও আমার কাছে ভালো সিনেমার নিজস্ব কোন সংগা দাঁড়ায়নি। ‘পথের পাঁচালী’ ভালো লাগতে শুরু করেছে অনেক পরে, যখন অনেক ভালো ভালো সিনেমা দেখা হয়েছে। ‘পথের পাঁচালী’র চেয়ে প্রথম দেখায় ‘অপরাজিত (১৯৫৬)’ আমার অনুভূতিকে মুচড়িয়ে দিয়েছিল।
তখন মনে হয়েছে শিল্পের রসবোধ আস্বাদনের নিজেরও প্রস্তুত হতে হতে। তাই ভালো সিনেমার রুচি তৈরি করতে চেয়েছিলাম একান্ত নিজের মত করে। ‘পথের পাঁচালী’ দেখার হোঁচটের সেই দাগটা এখনও মনে শংকা জাগায় বলে একটু সতর্ক থাকি জননন্দিত ‘মাস্টারপিস’ সিনেমা দেখতে বসে।

আমার দেখা প্রথম মাস্টারপিস হচ্ছে ইটালীর গিওসিপে তারনাতরে পরিচালিত ও মনিকা বেলুচ্চি অভিনীত ‘মেলেনা’(২০০০)। এই সিনেমাটিকে কেউ চিনিয়ে দেয়নি, এটা ছিল নিজের আবিস্কার। এটি ‘নীল ছবি’ হিসেবে আমাকে দিয়েছিল একজন সিডির দোকানদার।
আমি তখনও এই সিনেমাটি সমন্ধে এক অক্ষরও জানতাম না। ‘টু এক্স’ দেখতে বসে একা একা দরজা বন্ধ করে এমন একটি সিনেমা আমি দেখেছিলাম যার ভাষা বুঝিনা কিন্তু এমন সিনেমা আমি আগে কখনো দেখিনি। আমার আগের সিনেমার পৃথিবীকে তছনছ করে দিয়ে নতুন সাম্রাজের সন্ধান দিয়েছিল এই সিনেমাটি। আমার মনে এটি সিনেমা সৌন্দর্য্যের এমন ছাপ মেরে দিয়েছিল যে এরপর যে সিনেমা গড়নে ‘মেলেনা’র মত সেটাকেই আমার খুব প্রিয় ও ভালো সিনেমা মনে হতে শুরু করেছিল।
পরে যখন জানতে পারলাম যে ‘মেলেনা’,‘সিনেমা প্যারাদিসো’ অথবা ‘পথের পাঁচালী’সহ আমার দেখা অসংখ্য মহৎ সিনেমার দুয়ার খুলে দিয়েছিল ‘বাইসাইকেল থিবস’। তখন থেকে মনে মনে স্থির করেছিলাম এই সিনেমাটি দেখবো খুব অকারণে! যেদিন আর কোন আগ্রহ থাকবেনা, উত্তেজনার কোন ছিটে ফোঁটাও থাকবে না, খুব নির্মোহভাবে দেখবো এই সিনেমাটি। ১২ বছর লেগে গেয়েছিল এমন দিন আসতে। ‘বাইসাইকেল থিবস’ একটি দুর্দান্ত সিনেমা মনে হয়েছিল আমার। সঠিক সময়ে সিনেমাটি দেখেছি বলেই হয়ত এ্ত ভালো লেগেছিল সিনেমাটি।
শেষ কথা :
মহৎ সিনেমা দেখা এক একটি বিশেষ অভিজ্ঞতা। একটা বিশেষ অনুভূতি। এমন সব ‘ভালো সিনেমা’ দেরি করে দেখছি বলে কোন ক্ষোভ নাই। কারন ভালোর কোন বিলম্ব নাই। রুচি তৈরি হয়ে গেলে ভালো মন্দ বাছাই করা সহজ। ‘মন্দ সিনেমা’ দেখে সময় নষ্ট করার চেয়ে ‘ভালো সিনেমা’ দেখার জন্য নিজেকে প্রস্তুত করাও একেবারে মন্দ কিছু না ।
