দূর্গা পুজা হিন্দু বাঙ্গালীদের সবচেয়ে বড় ধর্মীয় উৎসব । কিন্তু কে এই দেবী দূর্গা ? কিভাবে তিনি পৃথিবীতে আসলেন? কিভাবে বিয়ে হলো দূর্গা আর মহাদেবের। এর নানা রকম গল্প আছে । শেষ পর্বে নজর দেয়া যাক দূর্গার পার্বতী রুপের দিকে
দূর্গার পার্বতীরুপ : শেষ পর্ব)
পুর্বজন্মে দূর্গা দক্ষের কন্যা ছিলেন । তার নাম ছিল সতী, স্বামী ছিল শিব বা মহাদেব। এ জন্মে তিনি মহাদেবের পত্নী হবার কামনায় হিমালয়ের ঔরসে মেনেকার গর্ভে আবার জন্মগহন করেন । হিমালয় পর্বতের কন্যা বলে তার নাম হয় পার্বতী। তপস্যার জন্য এই সময় মহাদেব হিমালয়ে এলে, পার্বতী মহাদেবকে স্বামী হিসেবে পাবার জন্য পূজা আরম্ভ করেন। মহাদেব এই সময় ধ্যানে এতটাই মগ্ন ছিলেন যে, পার্বতীর এই পূজাকে উপলদ্ধি করতে পারলেন না।
এদিকে দেবতা ও মানবকুলের উপর অত্যাচার শুরু করলে তারকাসুর, সকল দেবতা এর প্রতিকারের জন্য ব্রহ্মার শরণাপন্ন হন। ব্রহ্মা তাদের জানলেন যে, একমাত্র মহাদেবের পুত্র এই অসুরকে হত্যা করতে পারবেন। সে কারণে, মহাদেবের সাথে পার্বতী বা দূর্গার বিবাহ হওয়া প্রয়োজন।

এরপর মহাদেব আরাধনার জন্য হিমালয় ছেড়ে অনত্র্য চলে যান। এরপর গভীর দুঃখে পার্বতী কাতর হয়ে পড়লে নারদ এসে পার্বতীকে জানালেন যে, তপস্যার দ্বারা মহাদেবের পূজা করলেই ইনি তাঁকে লাভ করবেন।
এরপর কঠোর তপস্যা শুরু করেন দূর্গা। পরে তপস্যায় সন্তুষ্ট হয়ে মহাদেব বৃদ্ধ ব্রাহ্মণের বেশে পার্বতীর কাছে উপস্থিত হয়ে ভিক্ষা প্রার্থনা করেন। পার্বতী বৃদ্ধকে স্নান করে এসে আহার গ্রহণ করতে অনুরোধ করলেন। বৃদ্ধবেশী মহাদেব গঙ্গায় স্নান করতে গেলে একটি মকর বা কুমির আক্রমণ করে।
বৃদ্ধ দূর্গার কাছে সাহায্য প্রার্থনা করলে– দূর্গা বৃদ্ধকে রক্ষা করার জন্য অগ্রসর হন। এই সময় মহাদেব তাঁর স্বমূর্তি ধারণ করে দূর্গা/পার্বতীর হাত ধরেন। পার্বতী বিষয়টি তাঁর পিতা হিমালয়কে জানালে– হিমালয় পার্বতীকে মহাদেবের হাতে সমর্পণ করেন। এরপর শুরু হয় পার্বতী বা দূর্গার সাথে মহাদেব বা শিবের সংসার ।
