মাকে আমার পড়ে না মনে।
শুধু কখন খেলতে গিয়ে হঠাৎ অকারণে
একটা কি সুর গুনগুনিয়ে কানে আমার বাজে,
মায়ের কথা মিলায় যেন আমার খেলার মাঝে।
মা বুঝি গান গাইত আমার দোলনা ঠেলে ঠেলে –
মা গিয়েছে, যেতে যেতে গানটি গেছে ফেলে।
মাকে আমার পড়ে না মনে।
শুধু যখন আশ্বিনেতে ভোরে শিউলিবনে
শিশির-ভেজা হাওয়া বেয়ে ফুলের গন্ধ আসে
তখন কেন মায়ের কথা আমার মনে ভাসে।
কবে বুঝি আনত মা সেই ফুলের সাজি বয়ে –
পুজোর গন্ধ আসে যে তাই মায়ের গন্ধ হয়ে।
মাকে আমার পড়ে না মনে।
শুধু যখন বসি গিয়ে শোবার ঘরের কোণে,
জানলা দিয়ে তাকাই দূরে নীল আকাশের দিকে-
মনে হয় মা আমার পানে চাইছে অনিমিখে।
কোলের ‘পরে ধ’রে কবে দেখত আমায় চেয়ে,
সেই চাউনি রেখে গেছে সারা আকাশ ছেয়ে।
কখনো আমার মাকে
কখনো আমার মাকে কোনো গান গাইতে শুনিনি।
সেই কবে শিশু রাতে ঘুম পাড়ানিয়া গান গেয়ে
আমাকে কখনো ঘুম পাড়াতেন কি না আজ মনেই পড়ে না।
যখন শরীরে তার বসন্তের সম্ভার আসেনি,
যখন ছিলেন তিনি ঝড়ে আম-কুড়িয়ে বেড়ানো
বয়সের কাছাকাছি হয়তো তখনো কোনো গান
লতিয়ে ওঠেনি মীড়ে মীড়ে দুপুরে সন্ধ্যায়,
পাছে গুরুজনদের কানে যায়। এবং স্বামীর
সংসারেও এসেও মা আমার সারাক্ষণ
ছিলেন নিশ্চুপ বড়ো, বড়ো বেশি নেপথ্যচারিণী। যতদূর
জানা আছে, টপ্পা কি খেয়াল তাঁকে করেনি দখল
কোনোদিন। মাছ কোটা কিংবা হলুদ বাটার ফাঁকে
অথবা বিকেলবেলা নিকিয়ে উঠোন
ধুয়ে মুছে বাসন-কোসন
সেলাইয়ের কলে ঝুঁকে, আলনায় ঝুলিয়ে কাপড়,
ছেঁড়া শার্টে রিফু কর্মে মেতে
আমাকে খেলার মাঠে পাঠিয়ে আদরে
অবসরে চুল বাঁধবার ছলে কোনো গান গেয়েছেন কি না
এতকাল কাছাকাছি আছি তবু জানতে পারিনি।
যেন তিনি সব গান দুঃখ-জাগানিয়া কোনো কাঠের সিন্দুকে
রেখেছেন বন্ধ ক’রে আজীবন, কালেভদ্রে সুর নয়, শুধু
ন্যাপথলিনের তীব্র ঘ্রাণ ভেসে আসে!
আমাদের মা
আমাদের মাকে আমরা বলতাম তুমি, বাবাকে আপনি।
আমাদের মা গরিব প্রজার মত দাঁড়াতো বাবার সামনে,
কথা বলতে গিয়ে কখনোই কথা শেষ ক’রে উঠতে পারতোনা।
আমাদের মাকে বাবার সামনে এমন তুচ্ছ দেখাতো যে
মাকে আপনি বলার কথা আমাদের কোনোদিন মনেই হয়নি।
আমাদের মা আমাদের থেকে বড় ছিলো, কিন্তু ছিলো আমাদের সমান।
আমাদের মা ছিলো আমাদের শ্রেনীর, আমাদের বর্ণের, আমাদের গোত্রের।
বাবা ছিলেন অনেকটা আল্লার মতো, তার জ্যোতি দেখলে আমরা সেজদা দিতাম
বাবা ছিলেন অনেকটা সিংহের মতো, তার গর্জনে আমরা কাঁপতে থাকতাম
বাবা ছিলেন অনেকটা আড়িয়াল বিলের প্রচন্ড চিলের মতো, তার ছায়া দেখলেই
মুরগির বাচ্চার মতো আমরা মায়ের ডানার নিচে লুকিয়ে পড়তাম।
ছায়া সরে গেলে আবার বের হয়ে আকাশ দেখতাম।
আমাদের মা ছিলো অশ্রুবিন্দু-দিনরাত টলমল করতো
আমাদের মা ছিলো বনফুলের পাপড়ি;-সারাদিন ঝরে ঝরে পড়তো,
আমাদের মা ছিলো ধানখেত-সোনা হয়ে দিকে দিকে বিছিয়ে থাকতো।
আমাদের মা ছিলো দুধভাত-তিন বেলা আমাদের পাতে ঘন হয়ে থাকতো।
আমাদের মা ছিলো ছোট্ট পুকুর-আমরা তাতে দিনরাত সাঁতার কাটতাম।
আমাদের মার কোনো ব্যক্তিগত জীবন ছিলো কিনা আমরা জানি না।
আমাদের মাকে আমি কখনো বাবার বাহুতে দেখি নি।
আমি জানি না মাকে জড়িয়ে ধরে বাবা কখনো চুমু খেয়েছেন কি না
চুমু খেলে মার ঠোঁট ওরকম শুকনো থাকতো না।
আমরা ছোট ছিলাম, কিন্তু বছর বছর আমরা বড় হতে থাকি,
আমাদের মা বড় ছিলো, কিন্তু বছর বছর মা ছোটো হতে থাকে।
ষষ্ঠ শ্রেনীতে পড়ার সময়ও আমি ভয় পেয়ে মাকে জড়িয়ে ধরতাম।
সপ্তম শ্রেনীতে ওঠার পর ভয় পেয়ে মা একদিন আমাকে জড়িয়ে ধরে।
আমাদের মা দিন দিন ছোটো হতে থাকে
আমাদের মা দিন দিন ভয় পেতে থাকে।
আমাদের মা আর বনফুলের পাপড়ি নয়, সারাদিন ঝরে ঝরে পড়েনা
আমাদের মা আর ধানখেত নয়, সোনা হয়ে বিছিয়ে থাকে না
আমাদের মা আর দুধভাত নয়, আমরা আর দুধভাত পছন্দ করিনা
আমাদের মা আর ছোট্ট পুকুর নয়, পুকুরে সাঁতার কাটতে আমরা কবে ভুলে গেছি।
কিন্তু আমাদের মা আজো অশ্রুবিন্দু, গ্রাম থেকে নগর পর্যন্ত
আমাদের মা আজো টলমল করে।

আমার মায়ের সোনার নোলক হারিয়ে গেল শেষে
হেথায় খুঁজি হোথায় খুঁজি সারা বাংলাদেশে।
নদীর কাছে গিয়েছিলাম, আছে তোমার কাছে?
হাত দিওনা আমার শরীর ভরা বোয়াল মাছে।
বললো কেঁদে তিতাস নদী হরিণ বেড়ের বাঁকে
শাদা পালক বকরা যেথায় পাখ ছড়িয়ে থাকে।
জল ছাড়িয়ে দল হারিয়ে গেলাম বনের দিক
সবুজ বনের হরিৎ টিয়ে করে রে ঝিকমিক
বনের কাছে এই মিনতি, ফিরিয়ে দেবে ভাই,
আমার মায়ের গয়না নিয়ে ঘরকে যেতে চাই।
