এ বছরের ২৬ ডিসেম্বর এমন এক বিশেষ সূর্যগ্রহণ দেখবে বিশ্ব যেখানে সূর্যের ৯০ শতাংশের বেশি অংশ ঢেকে ফেলবে চাঁদ। শুধু চারপাশে উজ্জ্বল অগ্নিবলয় দৃশ্যমান হবে। দেখে মনে হবে যেন সোনালী রং এর আংটি । তাই বিজ্ঞানীর এর নাম দিয়েছে ” রিং অব ফায়ার’ বা আগুনের বলয়। ১৮৪৭ সাল, আজ থেকে ১৭২ বছর আগে এমন সূর্যগ্রহণ দেখেছিল পৃথিবীর মানুষ।
সূর্য ও পৃথিবীর মধ্যে চাঁদ অবস্থান করলে পৃথিবী দিনের বেলায় রাতের মতো অন্ধকারে ঢেকে যায়, এ ঘটনা সূর্যগ্রহণ নামে পরিচিত।

উল্লেখ্য, ২০১৯ সালের ২৬ ডিসেম্বরের সূর্যগ্রহণটি হবে এ বছরের তৃতীয় সূর্যগ্রহণ। গত ৬ জানুয়ারি ও ২ জুলাই বছরের অন্য দু’টি সূর্যগ্রহণ হয়েছিল। আর এটাই হবে বছরের শেষ সূর্যগ্রহণ।
